Central Park Zoo Outing

Today we headed to Central Park Zoo with Claire, Renee and Amelia. It was a lot of fun. As always, the penquins, polar bears, seals and monkeys were the highlight.

The girls even politely held hands together. So cute! And super helpful...because they can't run as fast when they're in a chain of three.

They all thoroughly enjoyed the petting zoo - which is connected to the regular zoo. But for some reason, Emma was the only one completely comfortable with feeding the animals. Maybe it's because she's always feeding Lucky and the goats at Central Park Zoo are probably thinner than our dear old Lucky.

Afterwards we went to this new playground area in Central Park. The park is full of really creative playgrounds for kids. But this is one of the newest additions. It's built to look kind of like a castle with steep granite walls and ramparts galore! As with the goat, Emma was fearless - climbing up all of it and scraping her knees the whole way. Maybe she's not so much of a safety freak anymore...that means trouble for me!

They also had a new sand pit which Emma got a kick out of. She never has seemed that interested before. But today she definitely enjoyed it.

Another note, we got a Wild Life Conservation membership today! Yippee! It's my early Mother's Day gift. This way we can go to any of the 4 city Zoo's(Bronx, Central Park, Prospect Park and Queens) and the Aquarium(at Coney Island) as many times as we want. Given that Emma is an animal addict and most of the Zoo's are easily accessible by Subway, this is a great investment!
