The world's longest walk...

We started off to an early Saturday morning with Emma and Gregg playing. And then kicked it into gear and headed to the PATH because....it's movie day again!!

Today's feature was definitely a much better fit for baby, mommy and daddy. We saw Must Love Dogs at the "Reel Mom's" Showing on 34th street. For those of you who don't know, every Saturday one of the movie theaters in the city has a special morning movie showing for Moms, Dads and babies. The lights are a little brighter, the sound is a little quiter and nobody says "Shhh..." when you're baby starts crying.

After that, we decided to walk along the Hudson River to go down where Auntie Anne lives...lower Manhattan. It was a long walk. I think Emma was desperately trying to say, "Are we there yet?"

But we saw lots of cool sites along the way. Free rowing, free kayaking, the trapeze school, the children's playground and beach, Chelsea Piers and the Sports complex, Hoboken (across the HudsonWe even happened upon the Swiss National Heritage festival where we ran into Jenny, Jeane Pierre and Giacomo.

At the end of our walk, we met up with Auntie Anne in Battery Park Playground...one of Emma's new favorites. She likes the big sand box and the infant size steps and slides, etc. But she wasn't so sure about the fountains. She really doesn't like water - baths or otherwise. After 30 minutes or so, we finally coaxed her in. She also wasn't sure about her new friend Ingrid who was dying to play with her...she's still a little on the shy side.

After the playground, we stumbled upon the Irish Hunger Memorial. Designed and landscaped to look just like the Irish Country side, it's a really neat monument set in a very urban landscape. It took a very talented architect to bridge that gap.

Then we grabbed some much needed nourishment. And headed back towards Hoboken...but there was one sight seeing adventure left for our Saturday.

In the World Trade Center, there is a new project/initiative going on called Story Corp. It's an organization who is setting out to record America's history through each individuals "oral"/recorded story. This particular location has a recording booth set up in the World Trade Center PATH station for friends and family members to come tell the stories of those they lost on September 11, 2001. After this very long day, we all crashed back in Hoboken!
